Established on March 7, 1916, BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke GmbH) has now became one of the major automobile manufacturers in the international market.
The company is a worldwide manufacturer of high performance premium cars and motorcycles, and is known for classic BMW luxury cars and BMW motorsports cars. It is the parent company of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, and also owns and produces the MINI brand.
BMW started operating in India in the year 2006. It has its sales subsidiary in Delhi region, and an assembly plant for BMW series cars, namely BMW 5 and BMW 3 series, in Chennai. Since inception, BMW India has stood its ground in a fiercely competitive market, delivered strong growth performance and achieved an unchallenged market leadership in the luxury car segment in 2009.

BMW X1 will be manufacture in Chennai plant only and its based on 3 series and it being brought in as a CKD.
BMW X1 will cost Rs. 24 Lakh which is lower price than BMW 320d corporate.
